It could have been my apples but they tasted over cooked and very mushy. Also, I didn't feel like there was enough of the topping to put over the apples.

I really like this recipe a lot, especially because it is made for just two people and because it is easy to add more servings. The first time I made the recipe I did exactly as followed, the next time I added 2-3 tablespoons of quick oats oatmeal, and 2 tablespoons of brown sugar with only 1 tablespoon of regular sugar. Instead of 3 tablespoons of flour, I only use 1. Thanks for the great recipe!

Other than adding more cinnamon (we prefer a bit more spice) I followed this exactly. It took 35 minutes for both dishes to be done and it smells divine! I'm keeping this one for a quick dessert that's also delicious!

I make this ALL the time because this recipe is so good, especially for how easy it is! I love that there are so few ingredients and they are all things I always have in my pantry. I double the amount of "crisp" to apples because for my taste this recipe was a bit skimpy, but I love it and make it all the time in the fall.

So easy!! It's like an apple pie with no crust. I left the peels on my apples for added texture and garnished with whipped cream. Yum!

What I ultimately made ended up being completely different, but that's because the recipe as written wasn't working out well. I used 2 medium apples and laid them in a 5 x 7 casserole dish (I have no custard cups). But when I made the topping, it was WAY too much butter and wouldn't get crumbly (hence the 3 stars), I ended up just dumping flour and oats in until it became the right consistency - I also started off using half flour, half oats 'cause my husband prefers that combo. The larger amt worked out well since I had more surface area to cover with 5x7. In terms of the apples getting soft, slice them very thinly and try microwaving them for a few minutes first. That'll help with overall bake time. With the 5 x 7 is also works well for cooking in a convection toaster oven - more energy efficient then too!

Used 5 apples and increased recipe by 2.5. Used brown sugar (for lack of white in pantry). Creamed sour cream with a simple syrup made from raw sugar to top. So Yummy! My youngest son ate almost the whole dish before my husband had his share. This recipe is a keeper!

My son loved this, he said it was awesome. 5 stars. He said I just needed to make a bigger "tub" of it next time.
