This cake was so unbelievably good that I wrote a blog post about it. I did take the recommendation to double the spices. I will make this again, probably soon! I didn't make the glaze. Instead I make a flavored butter to spread on it. One stick of softened butter, 2 tbsp of honey, a teaspoon each of cinnamon and vanilla. So delicious!

The batter was so good I almost decided not to make the cake! I did bake it, but I put it in for 2 minutes to little and long story short my cake fell apart. The big chunks of cake that came out of the pan were still excellent though and my task for tomorow is to make this recipe again, but just add those two minutes on! Strongly reccomend this recipe!

I was bowled over by the taste and consistency of this pound cake. I felt that 3 sticks of butter was a bit much so I used 2 sticks (1 cup) and mixed 1/2 cup of applesauce into the cider before adding to the batter. It was moist and had a nice, soft crumb. I used a Honeycrisp cider which has a wonderfully sweet taste, just like the apples. I will double the icing the next time as another reviewer recommended. The cake was great and the icing was really wonderful too, although I used Greek yogurt instead of the buttermilk as called for in the recipe.

I have a similar recipe only the glaze has 1/4 cup dark corn syrup and 1/4 cup cider instead of buttermilk. Very yummy cake, will have to try with the buttermilk glaze.

Not only is this a great cake...the recipe can be easily modified to create other cake flavors. I've gotten into fondant and cake sculpting and this pound cake has worked out really well for me. You can adjust the spicing to fit your tastes...i.e. my husband likes it just as it's written, but I prefer to triple up on it for my tastes. I've even filled it with flavored buttercream and apple pie filling to give it an added kick. I recently swapped the spices for dry coffee and the cup of cider for a cup of strong prepared coffee to make a coffee flavored pound cake with this recipe- YUM! The possibilities are endless. Thank you soooooo much for posting this!

I made this cake for my mother on her 88th birthday, she absolutely loved it and so did the rest of our family. The only difference was that I used a spiced apple cider, no other changes, and the icing was just perfect for this cake, in fact I will probably use it on other cakes in the future. We are not big fans of sweet gloppy frosting and the buttermilk icing/glaze is a nice change of pace. Thank you for sharing this recipe.

This cake turned out very good; I doubled the spice quantities as was suggested in other reviews. In addition, for the icing I used brown sugar instead of white - this added a delicious caramel flavor to finish it off.
