Loved this pie! I husband couldn't get past the "looks like pumpkin pie" because he doesn't like pumpkin pie, but he said he definitely can taste the apple butter. I followed the reviews: I did use between 3/4-1 cup apple butter (what the heck, I didn't want the apple butter to get moldy because I've been forgetting it in the fridge)... and added an extra tablespoon of flour. I did put it in the oven at 350 for about 45-50 minutes. I only wish I saw this earlier for Thanksgiving season.

Love this pie. I added a cup more of Apple Butter and an extra tablespoon of flour. I also added more sugar because I like pies on the sweet side. Came out perfect!

Used the modifications suggested by others, (2 Tbsp flour, 1 cup apple butter.) I liked this, but it wasn't quite as good as I hoped. I took it to a potluck, and there was quite a bit leftover. However, my neighbor LOVED it and requested the recipe.

I had to put a pie shield on this before turning it down to 350 degrees, because the crust was already pretty browned. At the 350 temp. I had to bake 65 min. instead of the listed 35 minutes, (nearly twice as long). It still looked a little wiggly, but I didn't want it to burn, so I took it out of the oven at that point. It presented nicely coming out of the oven, so I waited a couple of hours to see if it would set up further. The first piece was sloppy, but the rest of it cut okay. It is not a thick custard like pumpkin pie. It has more of a slightly watery pudding type apple custard consistency. It is not very sweet, which I liked, but it is also not like anything I have ever eaten before to compare it to. No one since I have made it, has eaten more than one piece. So, although it was interesting to make a different type of pie, it is not something I would make again.

A great recipe! My wife and our guests loved it. I followed the adaptations of some reviewers and it worked well, namely 1 cup apple butter, 1 extra tablespoon flour. I used 1 can of evaporated milk but some reviewers may have used condensed milk, which is a far sweeter product. Not sure how that would affect the final taste. Definitely a keeper.

It was great! Turned out just like pumpkin pie, with a different flavor. I read all suggestions, and adapted the recipe as follows: added an extra tbs of flour, a cup of apple butter, 12 oz condensed milk, and baked an extra 15 min. Used a nine inch pan, as I didn't have a smaller, and it wasn't too thin.

Very good pie, my husband and mom-in-law loved it. I used 1 cup of apple butter and increased the flour by 1 Tbsp. Its definitely better when it comes out more like a custard pie.

I used one can of evaporated milk instead of opening a second one to make the whole 2 cups. I also used a cup of apple butter. Turned out AMAZING! I forgot the cinnamon, but it was still delicious.

I made a lot of apple butter last year, froze it and wanted something to do w/it. This was so easy and great! I had the apple butter stored in 1 cup containers so I threw the whole thing in there and had a 12 oz can of evap milk. I had to cook it a bit longer, but it worked out great! My husband, the chef, loved it and has actually asked me to make some so he can take them to work. If the chef wants it, then I know it is good!

my husband loves apple butter, so we had to try this - came out excellent when made with his mother's apple butter (which is very flavorful) and we will be making this again!
