I was very disapointed in this cake. I expected something much sweeter. It tasted like apple bread, but not a cake. I even made caramel frosting to pour over it, but it still didn't taste like a cake. I will not make this again.

I enjoyed this very much. I used 1/2 cup of nuts and added 1 extra cup of apples and it was great. Very easy and very very good.

Delicious! Was a huge hit with friends. I didn't use the walnuts and I used a large rectangular pan. Because of the larger pan I only did one layer of apples and it baked for 35-40 minutes.

So good! And this time I traded half the white flour for whole wheat and because I was out of OJ I used pineapple juice. I even had some for breakfast... I will use this one again and again!

I have gotten more compliments on this cake than on anything I've ever made---this is the most delicious cake! I made it the original way and it was fabulous. I then tried it with 1/3c applesauce and 2/3c oil and the cake was a bit dry the first day, but by day 2 was just as delicious as the original. Definitely try it!

This recipe is a keeper although I modified it a little 1 1/2 cup sugar instead of 2 1/2 cup melted butter instead of 1 cup veggie oil replace orange juice with cointreau Less cinnamon I mixed the apples into the batter and it tastes the same and is much easier to pour!

This was the first time I made this cake and it was good. I usually do not change anything the first time I make something off this site but I did. I added extra apples and glad I did - the apples tasted great but the cake part was dry. I will bake at 325 as posted by another next time

I was dissapointed with this cake. A bit eggy and not as flavorful as I thought it would be. I also wished I had stirred the apples into the batter rather than layering them in. Won't be making this cake again.

Excellent Bundt cake. I use 3 large Honeycrisp apples and stirred them into the batter. I also only used 2 tsp. baking powder because I like a heavier cake. My timing was about 45 min. After cooling, I glazed it with : boil on med...1/2c butter, 1/4 c water, 1 c. sugar, 2 tsp. imitation rum or vanilla. Boil stirring constantly for 5 min. Pour over cake.

I just made this cake for someone's birthday at work and got rave reviews. As others had suggested, I added 4 cups of apples instead of 2 and baked it for 20-30 minutes longer than the recipe calls for. I also added more sugar and cinnamon to the apples than the recipe calls for. I will definitely make this recipe again!

I personally liked this cake, but no one else did, "was like eating bread with little flavor", used 4 apples, extra cinnamon, and baking for 55 mins mine came out a tad dark...overall would not make again.

Sugar-Free Cake I made this cake without any sugar by fluke and it tasted great.(I thought I had put sugar in the bowl and I remembered after the cake was baked that i didn't put it) (So that explains why my batter was sticky)My son is a diabetic and he thought that his was cake heavan. Here is what I did. I put 4 cups of apple, 1 table spoon of orange peel 1/4 cup of milk ( you may need to add just a little more)your batter will be very sticky, but thats okay, put the batter 1st than apples. Bake for 65 minutes. You can't even tell that the sugar is missing. Everyone loved the cake.

My family is Dutch so we have plenty of apple cake recipes floating around but this one is by far the best!! I agree with the person who posted on 11/28/2003 though; after only one hour the cake was still wet inside. I have made this recipe four times so far and always have to leave it in for and extra 20 minutes. I also only add 2 teaspoons of baking powder instead of three beacuse I like the more "pound cake" texture. It's still the most moist cake I've ever baked!!

This cake is so delicious. I made a cream cheese icing to top it off with and it tasted great. I would recommend more than 2 apples though.
