We have a lot of apple orchards in our state, so this definitely represents our area. This is one of my favorite apple recipes. It has a nice combination of flavors.

This salad is a tried and true crowd pleaser. A basic romaine salad is dressed up with toasted pecans, cranberries, and crumbled blue cheese and tossed with balsamic vinaigrette to serve. Make this an easy meal by adding grilled chicken and serving with a crusty baguette.

We used to serve this salad in First Class (when service was still first class). Nearly everyone who had this salad commented on how good it was. Romaine lettuce, toasted almonds and hard-cooked egg are tossed with blue cheese dressing. This salad is best if served very cold and not made too far in advance of serving.

Eating the skin of apples provides about twice the anti-cancer activity as eating only the pulp, Cornell University studies show. That's why this recipe says not to peel the apple. You may wonder about the hefty amount of fat in each serving. Don't: 90% of it is good monounsaturated fat from avocado and pecans.

A sweet-tangy brown sugar-maple syrup dressing gets its zip from apple cider vinegar and performs as the perfect partner for a leafy green salad tossed with pears and candied pecans.

'A FRESH SALAD is the perfect complement to any meal, but this colorful combination has eye appeal as well. I love the crispy crunch of croutons and tangy touch of dill in this recipe.'
