Made this for Thanksgiving dessert - it was fantastic! If you like Anise flavoring then this is one to try! I had a little difficulty with the glaze, it hardened very quickly, so I added a little more milk and this did the trick.

This bread was very easy to make and very tasty. I would have liked a little more Anise flavor in it.

I made this with only 1/2 cup of unpacked brown sugar and found it to be more than sweet enough for me. This was a delicious recipe and a change of pace from the pumpkin gingerbread that I usually make. I did have to cook it at least 20 additional minutes to get the knife to come out clean.

Delicious! I love anise and I love pumpkin. This is the perfect combination of the two. Moist and delicious and I didn't even make the glaze.

This was wonderful.. I made 2 loaves right away as another person stated that she wished she would have done.. I brought 1 of them out to my husband at work for him and his friends to try.. He was mad that I made him share it at work!!! LOL!! Definately a keeper.. Thank you for sharing this...

This bread was good. I substituted applesauce for the oil, used whole wheat flour as I do whenever I bake. I also had to substitute anise extract for anise seed because that is what I had on hand. The topping really brought out the anise flavor probably because of my substitution of anise seed. I will definitely make it again for the holidays.

Wow! This is really good. I ground the anise seed before adding it to the dry ingredients, and the whole house smelled great. My only regret is that I didn't double the recipe -- I'd like to have it for breakfast tomorrow, and it's gone! This is a very moist, dense bread. I thought about adding the entire 14 oz of pumpkin that I had left over from a can used for pie; I could easily have doubled the rest of the recipe and made 2 loaves with the pumpkin I had. Also, I completely forgot the glaze, and didn't miss it, although to be fair to the author, I will make it at least once.
