Someone for sure had to make an error on the sugar amount. I used a third of a cup and it was way to sweet. I would say use a tablespoon of sugar and no more. It also made more dressing than was needed.

Made a couple of changes- 1/8 c. sugar was PLENTY! Added 1/4 c. chopped carrots for extra color and veggy. Used salad vinegar instead of white. Used sweet pickle relish and added 1/4 tsp dill weed. Only used 1 1/2 c. Miracle Whip. Got great comments at my get-together!

Excellent....everyone really liked this salad. Made a few changes...used a full pound of elbow macaroni, 4 hard cooked eggs, vidalia onion light Miracle Whip, spicy brown musatrd and only 2 Tblspns of the sugar. And of course the rest of the ingredients. Made the day before serving. Just delicious and plenty sweet with just a fraction of the sugar called for. Hubby LOVED it....thanks and will be making again!

This is the best macaroni salad I have ever tasted. It got rave reviews from friends and family. I will tweak the recipe just a little next time with either more macaroni or less salad dressing, it was a little soupy. But no way was it too sweet!

My husband LOVES Amish Macaroni Salad which is typically very sweet and saturated with dressing. I gave this a try and am so glad I did! This most certainly is colorful and flavorful. Like others, I cut back on the sugar (a little over 1/4 cup) which was a good idea. I used a vidalia onion finely chopped and half light Miracle Whip and half Hellman's light mayo. I also added an additional hard boiled egg. This definitely needs to set overnight so the dressing can get soaked up a bit by the macaroni but otherwise excellent!

I followed the recipe exactly, with the only change of using 1/4 cup instead of 3/4 of a cup of sugar. I can't imagine anyone using a full 3/4 of a cup of sugar! Miracle whip is already super sweet. Despite the reduced sugar, I still thought it tasted very sweet. It also had tons of dressing when it was first made. The next day, after sitting in the fridge, it was a tad better. Nothing exciting though. It is pretty much noodles, mirace whip, onions, and celery in my opinion. I guess, I was expecting so much more for some reason.

Do not make the mistake I did...do not sub celery salt for celery seed (I didn't add the other salt)...waaayyyyy too salty. The 2+ tablespoons vinegar was too much as well ( and I like vinegar). Next time I won't add any salt or vinegar...just that which comes with the relish. Otherwise quite tasty (with @ 2 tbsp. Sugar only)
