This was delicious and very easy to make. It was almost like a biscuit consistency when it was done. It smelled wonderful and tasted great. I did add about 1/2 cup of raisins and about 1 T of caraway seeds. The previous reviewer who said that you don't need to make all of the basting liquid on top (butter and buttermilk) was right. I cut it in half and still had a lot left over. Looking forward to having it for breakfast!

This is one of the best and easiest recipes for Irish Soda Bread. I did follow some other suggestions by using my mixer for apx 10 minutes to add all the ingredients. I also added 1 cup of raisins which I think is a key ingredient for Irish Soda Bread. I lowered the temp to 350 and cooked it longer. This is definitely a keeper.

This was so delicious. I've never had Irish Soda Bread before but now that I have I will make it often. Very easy and yummy! Only thing I did different was that I used butter in place of margarine. Thanks for the recipe.

Absolutely excellent! I used my kitchenaid mixer to blend it all together. A very easy recipe to prepare. I made three loaves and they went the first day! I am definately making these again. A wonderful flavor and sets up well.

The bread came out rather well. I substituted in a cup and a half of whole wheat flour and used butter instead of margarine.

This recipe was something like a glorified sweet flour biscuit. While good, it wasn't exactly inspiring. My two year old and husband think it is "okay" but didn't eat much of it...

Wow! I had never made soda bread before and this was a very easy recipe to follow. It came out well enough for my first time. It didn't look that great but that was my fault. Luckly it tasted great.

This was really tasty with some dried mixed berries mixed in! Without the fruit I'm not sure I'd have been so crazy about it, but I can see lots of possibilities, I just love the texture! I did not remove mine from the bowl to knead it--I just mixed it up a bit by hand & shaped it into a loaf. I also did not baste it with butter during the cooking process but probably will next time as I think extra buttery flavor can only be a plus! As suggested by another reviewer, I used a lower oven temp (350) and checked it at 40 minutes--that is when it was done for me but then again, I had kind of flattened mine out a bit to encourage a quicker cook time :) I will definitely be making this again!

This was definitely easy to prepare especially with my KitchenAid. I feel like this is a bit dense though. Maybe less flour? It's good for sopping up gravy at least!

Excellent bread! I tried one recipe last year and it was dry and tasteless. This recipe disappeared from the dinner table like magic! Thanks for sharing.

So good and sooooo easy! I will be making this again, however, I must say that I cut the flour by 1/2 cup as other reviewers said it had too much flour. But I still gave it 5 stars as it's delish!

So good!! I added the extra sugar, salt and buttermilk as suggested by another poster. I also brushed the bread every 10 minutes as it baked. DELISH!

I really thought this was a wonderful bread, maybe not authentic Irish soda bread but myy corned beef and cabbage isn't either. Anyway, I made 2 loaves and added raisins to the second loaf. I did cook it at 375 for the 1st 30 min., basted turned down to 350, basted every 5 to 10 min. for the next 40 min. It was perfect. I think I my use this recipe and tweak it for several different uses. Just a good all around recipe.

This recipe is great and super easy! I made 2 batches of this Irish Soda Bread- one I used for a regular loaf and the other I split up into muffin trays and made Irish Soda Bread Muffins. I baked them for half the time required for the full loaf and they came out perfect. Raisin's really put this recipe over the top!

A very tender, flavorful Irish Soda bread. I especially liked the extra touch of basting with buttermilk/butter during cooking, which created an amazing crust. This will definitely go onto my regular rotation of biscuits and muffins.
