Real good but kind of too much of a soda taste for me

Great! Made it for my St Patricks Day meal, and it was delicious. I will definitely be making this again.

Really good, with a few changes here and there. Half wholeweat flower, half normal flower, some more baking powder, only half the amount of butter, and slightly more buttermilk. No sugar, but some more salt and finely cut rosemary instead to make it a hearty bread! This turned out to be deicious, especially to eat with a soup or a stew.

Too dry--tried cutting the flour back 1/4 cup, but I don't know if I would try this one again.

LOVED IT! The easiest and best Irish Soda Bread recipe ever! I didn't add raisins or currants, and it was fantastic just plain. I'll be making this again next St. Patrick's Day! Thanks for a super easy, yummy recipe!

Delicious! I added a 1/2 cup of golden raisins, and the bread was a big hit when I had people over. They liked it better than a store bought version we had earlier.

While I have never had Irish Soda Bread before this was a very good, hearty bread. It went very well with corned beef and cabbage on St. Patrick's Day. I imagine it would be good with many meals as it was almost like a loaf of southern biscuit. Followed the recipe and cooking directions with no problems at all.

I have made an Irish dinner for St. Patrick's day for years now and this is the BEST Soda Bread I have ever made. It has a wonderful flavor and a great texture and is good hot from the oven or cool the next day. I added some currants to mine and it was good that way, but I know it would be good without them, too!!

Really good! I had to substitute vinegar and milk for the buttermilk since that's all I had, but otherwise stuck exactly to the recipe. I did follow others' suggestions of cooking it at 350 degrees, though my oven cooks hot and it was done in 40 minutes (luckily I smelled that it was done!). Basically just watch the cook time, as it seems to vary. Also, I found that I could make it entirely in one big bowl (I mixed by hand), rather than kneading it on another surface that would have needed to be cleaned!

I really liked the flavor of this bread. It was easy to make. I basted it every 10 minutes. I checked it at 40 minutes and my utensil came out clean. I served it and found the middle to be very undone. I think I should've flattened it out more before cooking and let it cook for at least 50-60 minutes. We were able to eat the outsides of the slices of bread, but the entire center was a waste.

The title says it all! Very good bread. I made 1/2 the recipe, big mistake, next time I'll make the whole thing because it went very fast! In fact I'm not going to wait for St. Patty's Day to make this one again.

It was nice to try this new recipe to celebrate St. Patty's Day. I didn't have buttermilk or what I needed to make a proper substitute, so I used 1% milk and it still had a great texture. Next time I will try it with raisins for additional flavor.

This is excellent! I had initially tried the Better than Grandpa McAndrews Irish Soda bread recipe on this site and thought that was good until I tried this one! This one had more flavor and although the other was good, this was a step above in my opinion. I followed the advice of another reviewer and added raisins and craisins. I made another two loaves the next day!

It was like a huge biscuit. I did mine in my kitchen aide as another suggested & it was very simple. Baked at 350 for 55 minutes & came out great! Took this to a neighborhood St Patty's day cook out/dinner & everyone said it was very good. Brought left over into work & all said they liked it there too.

A good bread. Relatively easy to prepare (although I don't love the kneading part). It took much longer to cook than noted in the recipe and got a little too brown on the top for my liking because of the additional cooking time (had I known how much longer it was going to take I would have tried to cover the loaf in foil to see if that would have helped prevent the over-browning). It looked and tasted like a huge drop biscuit.
