I followed this to a tee and it came out great. Very simple to make. I will use this again.

I followed the recipe except added finely grated cheddar cheese to the mixture. I placed the patted down circle of bread in a pam sprayed cake pan. It made a circular loaf with a little peak of goldend brown goodness. I served it for a dinner party and we couldn't get enough. I baked it at 350 degrees for 45 minutes.

I have tried a lot of Irish Soda Bread recipes and found this to be the best yet. I added currants to the recipe and it was delicious.

So tasty! The two things I did differently was 1.)I used butter (what I had), and 2.) I let the dough rise on the pan for about an hour to let the soda activate and get a better rise. Next time I will flatten out the bread a lot more and then let it rise because I've had a problem getting it to cook properly both times I've made this (I did turn down the heat about 25 degrees and still had to cover it with foil for the last 20 minutes or so that it would bake and not burn).

I followed the recipe exactly except that I did add some dried cranberries. I had trouble getting it to cook all of the way through without getting to brown on the outside. Next time I will lower the temperature and plan on baking longer.

Delicious, rich, really easy. So quick coming together. I prepped this before making Delicious Ham and Potato Soup (off this site), and they finished at the same time. I wanted a bread to go with my soup; I was out of yeast; I tried this and was delighted. I subbed 1/2 the flour for white whole wheat. Will make this again.

I've never made or eaten Irish soda bread before and this recipe was very easy. I had to make it for a dinner at my sons' school and used my co-workers as guinea pigs. Everyone enjoyed it. I'll use this recipe again next year!

Excellent recipe. Not only was it easy to make, but it's delicious as well. I added about a cup of raisins and sprinkled some sugar on top of the loaf for a little extra crunch and sweetness after brushing it with the butter/buttermilk mixture and my family absolutely loved it! Will definitely make again! :D

Ordinary. I followed the recipe exactly and the finished product came out fine, but it was boring and bland. We only ate a few bites and the rest was quickly forgotten.

This isn't a perfect Irish Soda Bread, as it contains egg, but I PROMISE you that your family will love it. I take care to frequently "baste" it with the milk/butter wash, and I prefer to bake it on a pizza stone. If you don't own one, GET ONE. You can get a good one for under twenty dollars, and you will be amazed at how wonderful some of your favorite baked goods turn out - they will seem so much more "professional". Also, I like to coat the very bottom of the loaf in a bit of cornmeal - helps to keep the loaf from sticking and burning.

I tried this bread one year for St. Patrick's Day. It was a big hit with everyone. Now whenever I make stews it's a must have. I make it in my food processor with the plastic blade instead of the metal one. It mixes everything perfectly and also saves me from having to knead the dough.

I don't know what I did, but I wound up buring the HECK out of this bread. But after I cut off all the burned parts, the inside was fine... and DELICIOUS! I'm definitely going to try it again, and try to figure out why it burned... it's more than worth it.
