I have made this for my diabetic mother, but the whole family also loved it! Made a couple changes, used golden raisins AND dried cranberries, Splenda instead of sugar, added halved red seedless grapes, 1/2 cup finely shredded cheddar cheese, and added some chopped green onion I needed to use up. Very colorful and this is a great recipe for the Holidays, a nice alternative from all the heavy casseroles my family makes!

I used red grapes instead of raisins, red wine vinegar instead of white, green instead of red onions, toasted pine nuts instead of sunflower seeds. I reduced the sugar to 1T and did blanch the broccoli per some reviewers. I was surprised at how good this was! I'm not one for mixing sweet and savoury, but this was popular even with my 10 month old son.

My husband and I both enjoyed this and it's a good way to bring broccoli to the table. I don't really like raw broccoli, so I blanched it for about a minute to take the raw edge off. And I used turkey bacon. I will use this recipe when the idea of steamed broccoli doesn't thrill, which is often!.

I hate broccoli... but I can't get enough of this stuff... I could eat the whole batch! Follow the recipe exactly... even if some things seem strange... trust me... you will love it! Everyone at parties I go to rave about it.

This is a long-time family favorite I've made for many years! We use gold raisins and skip the sunflower seeds. Everyone who has it always asks for the recipe. Using packaged bacon bits also works just fine, and is a time-saver! It's even better the next day!

I took to a potluck at work and it was the first thing gone. I didn't have any raisins so I substituted 'Craisins' (sweetened dried cranberries) and used dry roasted salted peanuts instead of sunflower seeds. Everyone wanted the recipe - and it's so easy.

This was so good! I'm not wild about broccoli cooked unless it's lathered in cheese sauce so I don't know why I tried it raw but WOW this was so different. I made 1/2 the recipe and ate the whole thing in 2 days. Also added some dried cranberries and I'm sure it would be just as good with or without the bacon. Give this one a try. Thanks Eleanor.

Love this easy recipe that is so good. Great for get-togethers. Since I'm from Fresno, I have to add the raisins. I use golden raisins and sometimes substitute pecans for the sunflower seeds. I will also try substituting Splenda for the sugar next time I make it.

This is a very good salad with a unique taste. I omitted the raisins because I'm not a big fan and I don't think the taste was affected. A great alternative to the usual broccoli salad.

I always make this salad with turkey bacon. Sometimes instead of the raisins I use dried cranberries it really brightens up the salad.

I made this recipe for and all-girls get together and for our 2003 Thanksgiving dinner with 24 guests and the people at both parties LOVED this broccoli salad . . . even better was that the people who don't like broccoli (like my hubby) even liked it and went back for seconds! This is a keeper. I made a couple of changes to the recipe -- I used Splenda instead of white sugar and I used regular distilled vinegar instead of the white wine vinegar. I also omitted the sunflower seeds, and on Thanksgiving I didn't have time to cook bacon but noone seemed to notice.

I've been making this salad for a few years now. Even my daughter, who dislikes broccoli more than you can possibly imagine loves this salad. As she puts it, she would rather walk naked down Main Street rather than eat broccoli. I add chopped peppers (every color I can get) and it looks a lot more holiday like. What a wonderful way to munch your vegetables!

I used this recipe on a "girls" week-end away at a friend's cottage. I forgot to bring the raisons and when preparing the recipe, forgot to add the sugar. Everyone said it was delicious in any event! I will definitely use it again.

I must admit when I saw the ingredients of this recipe I was hesitant. How could this combination taste good? It tastes better than good...it's AWESOME. I have made it for a couple of potlucks now and there is never a drop left. Thanks for the recipe Eleanor!
