These are my favorite cookies that my grandmother used to make, but she called them Almond Crescents. I roll the dough and shape them into crescent moons. They make fantastic holiday cookies!
These cookies are very easy to make. I added extra almond extract because I love the flavor. It helped to chill the dough once I rolled them into balls so they stayed together better when removing from the pan to the cooling rack. Will make these again and often.
This is such an amazingly flavorful, yet simple little cookie, and the proportions were perfect. The almond extract was tasty, yet not too overpowering. The saltiness stood out as well, which I really like. My personal preference was to take this cookie one notch further and add pecans, rather than almonds for an additional flavor blast. I highly recommend this recipe.
I don't like nuts in my baked goods, but love the flavor, so I omitted the slivered almonds and added more almond extract. Still delicious, only it made about 1/2 the amount of cookies!
