i tried this recipe with brown rice and the almonds i used were chopped and roasted from the bulk section at our grocery store. it tastes great! it was so easy to make ( i used a rice cooker and then just threw handfuls of almonds and currants in). i love the taste and it is a well rounded dish because of the fat and protein in the almonds and you get a fruit serving mixed in there! it is mild enough to go with a wide variety of dishes. i tried it with broccoli and breaded chicken breasts.
