My mother, Marrian Storm, made this cake for many years. I love it so much. It is my favorite cake recipe. It is a little complicated to make but it is well worth it.

It's not really fair to rate this cake, yet, because I haven't gotten as far as the cake. So far I have made the Almond Brittle and it was a complete failure. This recipe calls for way too much Baking Soda. The candy foamed into a massive blob and tasted like baking soda. I will try it again with about 1/2 teaspoon soda and proceed to the cake part, but I thought you might want to know.
