Brown and white sugars, raisins and lemon juice add a wonderful taste and texture to this quintessential apple pie. Be sure to cube or slice the apples uniformly, and, if you like, dot the apples with pats of butter.

This easy-to-do recipe reminds us that apples need very little help to make a memorable pie. Apples are simply layered in the pie pan, with each layer sprinkled with cinnamon sugar. Then they are topped with a crust and dabs of butter. And in less than an hour, this classic pie bakes to perfection.

Sliced apples, raisins and walnuts are sugared, dusted with cinnamon and nutmeg, and piled into a pastry shell. A sweet crumbly topping is sprinkled over the top. The whole pie is then loosely covered with aluminum foil, and baked until golden and brown.

Sliced Granny Smith apples are sugared, sprinkled with cinnamon and tucked into the fridge overnight. A lovely pastry is rolled out, placed in the pan and gets filled with the apple mixture. The top crust is then added and the pie baked to perfection.

The pastry for this pie is sweet and flaky thanks to the addition of sugar and egg yolks. It 's laid out in a 10x15-inch jelly roll pan and topped with layers of sliced apples and sugar. The top crust is fitted and crimped, and the pie is baked in a very hot oven. It 's served warm with a confectioners ' sugar glaze. This pie serves 20.

First you make a traditional apple pie filling, and then things get more interesting. Half the apple mixture is spooned into a deep-dish pie shell and layered with caramels and a taffy mixture. And then more apples, caramels and taffy go in. And then it 's baked and served warm.
