Delicious! I added 1/4 tsp garlic powder, 1/4 tsp poultry seasoning and increased the salt & pepper by 1/4tsp each. I also added noodles instead of rice. Good with dumplings!

holy unbelievably delicious soup batman! There should be picture of this next to "comfort food" in the dictionary. It's easy, it's economical, and my husband is trying to lick the bowl right now. THANK YOU for posting it! It's going to be a seasonal favorite!

Great recipe. I just made it for the freezer, so I'll add the rice when I'm ready to serve. Thanks

This soup was wonderful...very creamy and decadent. It is difficult to believe a soup so sumptious was made using a turkey carcass, something I used to throw away. I won't be tossing another one. I put the carcass into a bag and freeze it immediately after dinner. I make the soup on a cold day when comfort is needed. Thanks so much for the post.

LOVE this soup, I shared the recipe with everyone! Substituted cream of mushroom soup for most of the half N half, and added some roasted garlic (both additions were leftovers from the other Thanksgiving dishes I prepared. Thanks for the recipe!

OMG. I can't get enough of this soup!!! DH isn't real big on rice, so I leave that out. But, I do add corn and potatoes, to make it more hearty. Penzey's Poultry season, garlic, bay leaves, etc... I leave out the half and half. The flour/butter roux is enough creaminess for me. Most the time, I end up tossing in NO YOKE noodles, too! I end up breaking it into three Tupperware - one for NOW, and two to freeze for later.

I add vegetables when cooking the turkey frame for more flavorful broth. Then, they get discarded and new vegetables added according to this recipe.

This is one of those recipes that I would rate off the charts. I never felt like dealing with the turkey carcass before, but always hated to just throw it away. Trying to stretch the dollar I decided to try this soup. IT WAS WONDERFUL!! Everyone loved it! Even all 6 children! (especially with oyster crackers) Thank you SOOO much for submitting this recipe! I will always make after turkey days!!!

I had a bit of trouble adjusting seasonings (Thanks for the tips) and wound up adding more rice to make it thicker. But it turned out great and made huge pot. Great with hot crusty rolls.

Excellent soup. I had never made turkey soup before and this is just what we were looking for. I made it two days before we were going to have it and the flavor was incredible. Mine did come out a little thick so I thinned it out with some organic broth. My family loved this soup. I will be making it again and freezing it. Thanks for sharing.

we used this recipe to get rid of our left over turkey, but since my hubby had already carved and threw away the carcass we just used the meat and made a broth with it. also since i used rosemary, citrus and basil on my turkey I added it to the soup. The soup came out more like a chowder, but it was fantastic, our new after thanksgiving tradition. Thank you so much

This soup was great. I would have given it 4 1/2 stars, since I think it needed a little oomph. First off, I reduced the flour and butter by half. I added 1/4 cup Turkey soup base (I get mine from Penzeys), 1 TBS of Hungarian Chicken Rub (any rub will do, as long as the main ingredient isn't salt) 2 tsp poultry seasoning, and 1 tsp garlic powder. I also added the cream after the rice was cooked, so it wouldn't get glopy. At the very end, I added 1 cup peas and 1 cup corn. It was very flavorful.

Delicious!! Ive made this for a few years now and this is the first time I didnt add Half&Half(I never added flour) and I like it even better. I also add diced garlic, corn, some basil and parsley. I leave out the celery inless I already have it. I like to use pasta but have had it with rice. Also I would say eat this the day you make it. The rice or pasta gets mushy.

I made the recipe just as given, and it is delicious. The only thing that I will do different next time is less flour, to make it thinner. I had to add chicken stock the second day to thin it out. But I loved it. It will be the only turkey soup that I will make from now on.

We had a Cajun fried turkey for the holidays. The spices from the turkey went great with the creaminess of the soup. My 3 yo and my 13 yo loved it.
