very good and very easy! sweet and tangy and very refreshing! more interesting and certainly more healthy than the typical mayo salads! i didn't have dill so substituted some celery seed, which was good also. i used 3 large cucumbers (could have easily used 4) and followed instructions of another reviewer to lay cut cucumbers on cookie sheets, salt them, cover with plastic wrap, and then drain extra water about 1-2 hours later before pouring liquid mixture over them.

I wasn't crazy about this recipe. It was very watery. Even after a day in the fridge, the cucumbers didn't come close to absorbing all of the liquid in this recipe, and I used more cucumbers than the recipe called for. My family wasn't crazy about this taste of this either. I'll keep looking for a different cucumber salad recipe ... a lot of people liked this one, but it didn't work out for our family. Sorry!

Great taste, but too much sugar. Next time I make this I will try 1/2 cup or less, instead of the recommended 3/4 cup of sugar. But they held up very well for a couple of weeks in the fridge. Tasted like the old fashioned "Bread and Butter" pickles my mom used to make.

Great recipe! If you don't like vinegar, this is NOT FOR YOU! This was a summer staple in our house when I was a kid. It's a bit sweeter than my Mom made, but still good. Add green peppers for flavors. This is best if it marinates overnight.

Great way to use all those cukes from my garden. I've never had cuke salad before. It was interesting. I made it w/ Splenda as two of us are diabetic. Would make again.

I love this recipe but made a couple of changes. First I used spring onion (family's preference). Second my husband is diabetic, so I substituted pourable Splenda for the sugar and it tastes great. I've made it both ways and can't tell the difference. Thanks for a tasty way to use up some of our huge cucumber crop! And with nearly no calories!

This cucumber salad is easy to make and it tastes great! Adding the hot liquid softens the cucumber and onions, too!

Very good! I just tossed everything together and replaced the 1 cup of sugar with 1/2 cup splenda - No need for the extra calories! Thanks for the recipe!

This is pretty good. It's best eaten within 24 hours, when the cucumbers are still crisp. If you liked it when your mom put vinegar over cucumbers when you were little, you'll find this even better.

I give this recipe 4 stars because the recipe is not specific enough on the quantity of cucumbers, or how thin to cut the cucumbers/ onions. Thin is a relative word. I felt it left a bit of questioning when preparing this food. I also feel that this recipe was way too sweet. I would cut back on the sugar by half, and add about half a teaspoon of pepper. Other than that the dish was good, not great, simple, and quick.

I gave this 4 stars because my husband liked it so much, but I thought it was on the sweet side so I did not rate 5 stars. It's too Bitter Sweet for me. I think you must need a lot of cucumbers, I used about 5 big ones and still too sweet, or something...I can't put my finger on it, but possibly there is too much vinegar and I would also try it less sugar next time. Needs work.

Way too sweet for me. More like having uncured pickles with onions in a sweet vinegar sauce. Maybe great for others, needs some work for folks like me with a more sour palate.

My family loves this recipe. I don't heat anything when I make it, just let it sit in fridge for a few hours & it tastes great! My kids eat this for a snack when I make enough for leftovers.

Loved the ease of this recipe... Used a red onion, and red wine vinegar... Was a big hit. Made "Peppy's Pita Bread" and " Seans Falafel and Cucumber sauce" from this site... :-) Wonderful Salad!
