Nice and refreshing. I omitted the onions because my husband is allergic and reduced the sugar. All all of my friends and family ask for this anytime there is a potluck.

I used 1/4 c. sugar as others had suggested. Make sure you let marinate for a couple of hours.

I've been looking for a nice cucumber recipe that's not too tart but flavorful. Found it! Thanks!

I love this recipe. I have made it several times over the summer. It's great to bring to BBQ's too. I only use about a 1/2 cup of sugar and it's easier to marindade using a large zip lock bag. Lots of compliments on this!

This was yummy. A nice combination of sweet and tangy. I didn't have the dill and it still worked. Only had an hour and a half of marinating and still got raves from the dinner guests. I will use red onions next time and perhaps add some peppercorns to the mix!

Great recipe, I added red bell pepper thinly sliced, used fresh dill and parsley finely chopped and substituted the sugar with Apriva and this was the best salad I ever had.

My family and I really enjoyed this recipe. I also found that it wasn't necessary to cook it but I used hot (not boiling) water to disolve the sugar. It was neither too vinegary or too sweet. It had the perfect blend. It is also nice without the dill (I forgot to add it). However, I will try it again with.

Wow - really good. I haven't even let it marinate yet and already can't keep my fork out of the bowl. Definitely only need the 1/4 cup of sugar, may reduce further the next time but great flavor.

Delicious and refreshing salad that was really easy to make. I was out of dried dill so I used dried basil and topped it of with toasted sesame seeds before serving for additional décor and taste.

This was a huge hit at our last BBQ. My hubby is very critical and he even asked me to make it the next day. I did use fresh dill as suggested by others.

This recipe is a keeper. Just made it for company and received compliments from everyone! I have tried this recipe replacing the sugar with splenda. While not as good as the original recipe, it is still tasty with splenda.

This recipe is so simple and yet so delicious! I haven't used cucumbers for anything else since I tried this recipe nearly a month ago. I never did pick up dill at the store but I didn't miss it either. I used one reader's tip and salted the cucumbers after they were all sliced, stirring frequently for about 20-30 min. Then I strained the slices of all the natural water and then added the boiling vinegar mixture. It seems as if the cucumbers absorbed much more of the vinegar mixture and made a much tastier salad. This is a huge hit at a potluck, everyone will want the recipe! Thank you for this inexpensive new family favorite!

Really, really good! I used fresh cucumbers directly out of the garden and cut the vinegar, water and sugar down as suggested previously. Wonderful on pulled pork sandwiches too!

Great, easy recipe! I made the following changes: decreased sugar to 1/2 cup, used scallions instead of onion, and added thin-sliced green pepper (I had a small one from the garden). Delicious!
