I loved this recipe! I made several batches and handed them out to a few of my friends for their birthdays. They all loved them. My family liked them a lot, too. They seemed slightly salty to me, but it may just be me. Thanks! =)

These cookies are FANTASTIC. I'll never use the recipe on the back of the Toll House bag again. I've taken them to several parties and will be baking them for a bake sale tomorrow. Best of all, they freeze well...if they even last that long in your house!

I've searched and tried tons of chocolate chip cookie recipes. I made some alterations and they were perfect! Crispy outside, chewy center. Used butter rather than shortening and melted it before adding it. Make sure it's completely cooled before adding it to the mixture. Delicious!

Ashley- your wrong! the recipe has a few differences from the toll house recipe. the vanilla is different in amount and kind, the shortning and the chocolate chips are different, and they make a HUGE difference! For fun my 3 daughters and I made both recipies exactly, the toll house and this one today. This recipe is so much better you would never know that it only has 3 things different, it is a great cook who can see the couple things that need changing to make the recipe supurbe instead of just ok. This is the best chocolate chip recipe ever! Every one who has tasted them from me LOVED THEM!!!

SUPER good. My boyfriend went insane for these (said he liek dthem better than his mom's! BWAHA! in your face, mother-in-law!! hehe ^_^) The only thing I did differently, was that I used whole flour, just because I already had it and didn't want to buy more white flour... Thanks for the great recipe!!

After trying every chocolate chip cookie recipe I could find I found this one and it is a keeper! I used a large ice cream scoop to make giant cookies so I added a few minutes to the cook time. These cookies usually don't last a day in our home! Thanks for a great recipe!

This was pretty tasty! The only things I found to change were that it actually took between 12-14 minutes to cook all the way. Also, my boyfriend thought it had too many chocolate chips. I recommend using 1 to 1 1/2 cups of chips instead if you want more cookie and less chocolate. Also, I used semi-sweet chocolate chips because I find milk chocolate chips are just too sweet to go into cookies.

Ok.. well.. I did change the baking temp to 375 for 8 minutes. I found out they dont spread to much then. I also used 1 cup mini chocolate chips then placed 3 m&m's on top. I am making these cookies for my son's class, so I think the kids will enjoy them! Thanks for the recipe!

These are seriously the best chocolate chip cookies ever. And I've tried lots. Most recently put the NY Times recipe making the rounds, and this one still holds up as the winner, hands down!

Wow! I had to use non-hydrog. margarine because that is all I had and they still turned out supper delicous, soft and chewy. I baked them on parchment instead of greasing pan and at my son's request we used half peanut butter & half milk chocolate chips....yummy!!!!!

Made these cookies this morning and LOOOOVED them! I love that they are nice and chewy and thick. I used semi-sweet chips instead and you DEFINATELY have to double or triple the vanilla. I didn't use mexican vanilla. I just used pure vanilla and it was still a great cookie! You do not have to worry about these flattening out or spreading...they hold a great shape. Also used half butter half shortening for the real butter taste.

I have been searching for a solution to my flat, thin, spread-out chocolate chip cookies. I finally realized that using butter flavored shortening would do the trick! I did 1/2 shortening, 1/2 butter, and the cookies actually held their shape!! awesome recipe- i used kosher salt, and i doubled the vanilla because i didn't have "double strength" vanilla- and the cookies had so much flavor. thank you for this great recipe- it will be my standard from now on!!
