My family LOVES these cookies! I didn't have the Mexican vanilla, so I followed the suggestion to substitute 6 tsp. of regular vanilla. I also followed the tip to leave the cookies on the sheet for 10 minutes after taking them out of the oven. They're amazing!

I'm not sure what I did wrong because I followed recipe but my cookies came out flat (like thin crepes would come out) and looked nothing like the picture. The flavor is ok, no different from other recipes that I have tried.

Wow! For the longest time i have had such a hard time trying to make "the perfect" chocolate chip cookie. It just seemed that no matter what i did they always came out wrong. They tasted fine enough but they were always either to lumpy or spread out flat like pancakes! This recipe worked perfectly! The only changes i made to it where to only use 6 Tbs of shortening and 6 Tbs of butter. And i used 2 Tbs of regular Vanilla extract because i didn't have any of that Mexican Vanilla Extract.

Not the "Best" I've ever had, but very tasty. Mine took about 14 minutes took cook. I think I may try using margarine instead of shortening next time. very yummy!

I usually use more chips then the recipe calls for, and I add nuts. I use this as my base cookie, and then alternate the chips/fruit/nuts that I add. If I refrigerate the dough a half hour before baking, I get better results.

These cookies were extremely bland with NO flavor. The only change I made was using semi-sweet in place of the milk choc. Bummer because I wasted ingredients. Even my little 10 year old nephew said the were 'horrible'.

I thought these were delightful! they stayed moist and chewy. The only thing I noticed that was bad was that they tasted "floury". I think the chocolate makes up for it! :) All around these are some great cookies! -Nicole

I've tried quite a few chocolate chip cookie recipes and this is by far the best. Everyone raved about them. I also didn't have any mexican vanilla extract so I used the regular kind and they were delicious, next time I'll try recipe as is. Thanks so much for sharing!

After first pan came out and were so bad in every way (appearance, taste, texture, etc.) I put all rolled cookie batter back into bowl and tried some variations, with not enough improvement to continue baking them. One star becuase 0 stars isn't possible.

This are not "the best." I followed the recipe exactly and they just came out ok, not impressive. Also, it took an extra 4 minutes than the recipe says to get them fully baked.

My cookies came out horrible! I really wanted this to work too. I love cookies, but these came out flat and I even added more flour! Perhaps if you changed the baking soda to baking powder that's the only thing I think would make a difference.

After trying several great cookie recipes, I tried this one over the weekend. I didn't use the mexican vanilla, but it made no difference, these cookies are AWESOME!!! 1/2 tsp. of cream of tartar is all i added for the "cracked" cookie look. My kids like the palm size cookies and these delivered! Used an ice cream scoop for dropping. THANKS for the recipe!!!!

Good cookies, but I think I'll stick with my standard Urban Legend Choc. chip. cookie recipe! These were very simple though; much easier and faster than my standard recipe. Thanks!

TERRIBLE. Made these twice to make sure it wasn't me. The cookies are way, way too sweet. Those reviews are correct. Two c. of chips is way too much. Half that will be fine if you feel you must make this recipe. Too many chips make the cookie very melty-like and they fall apart, and not in a good way. They required 2-3 minutes of cook time more than the recipe called for. I would never make these again. Yes, it's pretty much a rip off of the tollhouse recipe. I only made this recipe because I couldn't find my one from Joy of Baking on their site. This recipe here, well, it's Friday morning and the only cookies left in the tin are the ones from this recipe. Sad, even my teens didn't like them.

These turned out great! I made sure not to cook them to long, only until slightly golden. This made for chewy cookie and semi melted chocolate. I couldn't stop eating them!
