Good recipe but it is right off the back of the Nestle Toll House Chocolate Chip bag with the exception of an additional tsp. of vanilla...

Yummy thanks so much for the great recipe. I forgot to mention that I do not use shortening or margarine in baking(trans fat) only butter but these were still wonderful.

Pretty good recipe. Small footnotes: the mexican vanilla is not essential, and for me, being a professional chef, I substitute a different shortening, and add butter extract...the shortening I choose to utilize is called Bake Rite...it is an animal fat based shortening, and it is available @ wal-mart. the difference in amazing. and to the reviewer who complained that they turn out flat...if you look at the picture....it shows nothing that would lead me to believe otherwise...they are supposed to be a flatter cookie...good recipe Nicole...Kudos

well, this wasn't the greatest cookie i've ever had. they weren't a complete disaster but they did taste pretty bland so i will keep looking. Oh, and be careful in the last few minutes they get dark really quickly!

These really are the best chocolate chip cookies! They are delicious, also they are very good with milk or coffee. I did everything exactly as the recipe said except for I didn't have mexican vanilla extract so I used vanilla extract substitute and I didn't have milk chocolate chips so I used semi sweet chocolate chips.

I'm giving it 5 stars because it is a great recipe. I've been using it for years. I originally got it off the back of a bag of chocolate chips...The only difference is this one uses shortening instead of butter and has 1 more teaspooon of vanilla extract.

yummy.. chewwy.. and delicious. make a lot.Decided to try this recipe since it looked good. i have many different choc. chip cookie recipes. This is another i can add to my collection. I added a bag of choc. chips and a bit more mini choc. chips to make sure there is plenty of choc. chips in every bite. I also baked them for 10 minutes and took them out slightly under cooked and let them bake more on the sheet. and ummmm yummy thy come out chewy and soft. just like my husband likes them.... thank u.

This recipe is okay but I thought the shortening took away from the flavor. I did use butter flavored shortening but the effect was inferior to that of cookies made with butter.

Just made these (my house smells yummy!!). They are awesome. Kids loved them. I added a tsp. of almond - and cooked them for longer than the recipe called for. Overall a 10!

the butter flavored shortening combines the best of both worlds; the flavor of butter and a very moist chewy cookie. Absolutely the best!

This was a great recipe, except you dont need to use butter flavored shortening. I used regular butter and they turned out just as great. These are very good cookies and thanks for submitting it!
