This soup is absolutely awesome!!!! The flavor is so rich and tastey. My husband loved it too. It didn't take too long to make either. I would definatley serve this to company and make again for us to eat. I didn't have any celery or tarragon. I also used 2% milk instead of cream (still very rich in flavour). I added a little paprika and pepper. Thank you for entering this recipe. It is a keeper!!!!

I made this recipe for the office Irish Celebration, it came out great! I substituted some lower fat items, fat free chicken stock and light cream, no one will notice. Also, I just had to add a can of corn.

A wonderful soup, will definately make again. I didn't use heavy cream but milk and more than suggested. I didn't have tarragon but it didn't seem to matter. A success with this household.

OK, am I the only one that felt like I was eating a bowl of gravy? WAY TOO GLUTENOUS for us. Although it was tasty, it was too thick, even though I "watered" it down with twice the amount of half and half (recipe calls for heavy cream, though) I used only five pieces of bacon and that was plenty. I gave it three stars because I would probably make this again, but with a revision. Leave out or reduce the flour, so it does not have such a pasty consistancy. The recipe says to puree half of the soup, next time I wouldn't take as much out...we like it a little more chunky. Good luck on this one...Hope you're not on a diet.

Its all in the name. FANTASTIC!!!! Reccomend this soup hands down. I followed it exactly except for tarragon, as I didnt have and no cillantro, since we dont care for it. I cant say it took away from the recipe, since ours turned out amazing. But those that have it may want to try it. Either way, this soup is amazing!!!!

This is Absolutely a great potato soup!!! I was looking for a simple potato soup and came across this recipe that everyone seemed to love. After making it, I can honestly say that it is much more than a 'simple' soup...it truly is very good and tastes like something you would get in a nice restaurant. Thank you Karena, this is a keeper!!!!

This soup was excellent and very easy to make! The flavor was incredible! And it only took one pan to make it in, didn't seem like a big mess to me. Reminded me of my mother's homemade soups when i was growing up - good comfort food!

Excellent soup/chowder. Substituted leeks for onions and garlic, cut bacon in half, added evaporated milk for the cream. This is just what I had and it was excellent. I did not puree. Thanks very much!!!

Took a lot longer to cook than recipe indicated. Ended up with a sink full of dirty dishes. Husband who is not a soup fan LOVED this soup. I thought it had to much bacon. He did not. I left out the tarragon & cilantro because I did not have it on hand. Will I make again...Only if my husband offers to do the dishes again!!

I have mixed feelings regarding this recipe. It is true that this soup is delicious, however the time involved and the constant attention needed during cooking was more than I thought it was worth, not to mention that as another reviewer stated, it also created many dirty dishes. It is a very "heavy" soup and therefore I would recommend using the half & half that other reviewers used instead of the heavy cream. My overall thoughts during the duration of making the soup was, "surely I can find a less time consuming recipe that will be good." Unless you prefer "gourmet effort" or you need to wildly impress someone.

truthfully this tasted more like bacon soup than potato soup. next time i will definetly add maybe a fourth of the bacon if any. i think the bacon bits on the top thing would probably be enough.

This was awsome! My first time making potato soup and it was easy. Beside peeling the potatos it was really fast. I topped with sharp cheddar and held bacon out of soup and crumbled it on top! Company raved!!!

Very good and easy. I made it without bacon for my vegetarian daughter and used veggie broth. It was very tasty. All my kids liked it.
