I am eating my first piece now- This is great! If you like Jiffy corn bread mix, you will love this! I have never liked homeade corn bread till now! I did 1/2 the butter, and only used 3/4 cup sugar. I also substituted jalepenoes for the green chilis. Gave it some heat with the sweet. Just a personal preference...

This is by far the best cornbread I have ever had. I dont use canned cream corn I make my own so thats what I did and I didnt have any store bought peppers but had anaheims that I grew myself and I just blanched them. There wasnt any heat.but thats ok there was a lot of flavor. I will always make this cornbread instead of the boring one that comes on the cornmeal package. And as for the other reviewers. I disagree it was not greasy at all. Maybe you have to use real butter not margarine. It was the best!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My whole family LOVED this cornbread. I didn't have it in there for quite an hour, probably due to the mix I used, it only took about 30 minutes. Regardless, it was a wonderful recipe and I intend to use it again!

Especially good Mexican Cornbread IF you cut the butter amount in half. If made according to directions the sugar can be reduced by half as well or it's extremely sweet. My changes were...half the butter, eliminate sugar altogether and used a little less than 1/2 cup Splenda. Sometimes I use Jiffy corn bread mix (only 1 box per recipe) and sometimes I follow the recipe for the cornbread part. Didn't think I'd like it but David thinks it's "da bomb" and I DO really like it myself.

This was sooooooo good. I used homemade creamed corn and fresh roasted chilis! This is a go to for a sweet cornbread with a twist.

This is yummy!!! Anything that starts with a cup of butter is alright in my book. I used jalapenos instead of green chilis and cut the sugar in half, it was plenty sweet.

I love cornbread, but not when it's too cakey. I make a recipe similar to this but with less butter and sugar and using regular corn, not creamed corn. And lots more chiles, but if you're not used to spice you won't want to go overboard.

This recipe was good, but I made some modifications after tasting the batter. I definitely cut the butter in half. I added the whole can of chilis, and I also added some cayenne pepper and cumin. I felt that the cornbread was a little too sweet, so I will cut the sugar in half next time I make this.

This was corn "cake". Way too sweet! When I make corn bread, with a recipe given to me by a native american married to a mexican almost 40 years ago, I use 1/4 cup of sugar for a 9x13 inch cake pan of corn bread. She also taught me to make chili and homemade tortillas.

This was extremely moist and quite good. The kids and I loved it, my husband was indifferent. I didn't have creamed corn so I used whole kernel white corn and I also used a pepper jack cheese. I think if I were to make this again, I'd cut back on the sugar and maybe add a little Frank's Hot Sauce to give it more of a kick to offset the hot/moist. This is one of the moistest cornbread I've ever had.

Really good cornbread if you half the sugar and the butter! Jalapeno peppers go great as a substitute for the green chilles.

I give the recipe five stars as it is really good bread. It is very moist and is really good with Taco soup. I will make modifications next time I cook it as my husband found it to be too sweet. I will add more peppers/spices and kick it up a notch as we like it spicy.

At the recommendation of another poster, I altered the recipe (1/2 c butter, 3/4 c sugar), and it turned out great. Sweet, moist and great texture.
