I found this recipe because I had the ingredients on hand and a bunch of garden tomatos that I had to use. I thought it was good for a simple throw together dinner. I followed the recipe but used brown rice, doubled the spices, added a dash of chili powder and hot pepper flakes. In place of the saltines I used little round oyster crackers which is basically the same and added some shredded sharp cheddar cheese.

This recipe was great! I wasn't in the mood to be completely creative, so I used this recipe as a base and modified it. Rather than onion, I used bell pepper. I had breakfast sausage and added it to the ground beef when it was almost done. I took the advice of others and added various spices and extra sauce. Instead of plain rice I added Spanish rice because we had it left over. Rather than butter with the crackers, I used Italian dressing and mixed it with picante sauce. My husband loved it and we will definitely be using it again! Thanks so much!

I made this and my family was not impressed. It is okay but nothing wonderful. I would make it again, but only if the ingredients were on hand.

This recipe was a hit...although I did change a few things. I used frozen spanish rice, added a can of tomato sauce and a can of black beans and then when it was served, topped with cheese and sour cream. My kids loved it!

My boys liked it but it had too much cummin for my taste so if I make it again I will not use as much cummin.

It was ok, I used extra spices like others suggested. I was glad I did. I would like to try with other meats especially Salmon. If you like meaty I would suggest adding half to double the recipe amount.

My family and I love this dish. I make it probably twice a month. I add more worcestershire sauce than called for (3 tbsp.) and more tabasco sauce (2 tsp., always fresh tomatoes (makes a difference)and top with cheese before putting the buttered ritz cracker topping on. I always use the ritz crackers, that makes a difference too. Mine doesn't come out bland, so I'm not sure why people have complained of it being plain. This is easy, yummy, and cheap to make. I gave it 5 stars!!

I ended up following the instructions exactly. it turned out ok. I ended up put extra pepper on it. I also put cheese on it and put in the oven for another 5 mins so it could melt. Itsvery good also when you put sour cream with it.

I really enjoyed it. I pretty much took everyone’s advice and cranked up the spices. On my second attempt for a party I used medium salsa instead of the fresh tomatoes and onions and added the parmesan to the crackers. Served it with sour cream and chips and had to make a second batch at the demands of my guests. Thx.

Hey, this was pretty good! It was certainly easy to make and had more flavor than I thought it would. I used Ritz crackers because that's what I had, and I added 1/4 C of grated parmesan cheese to the crumb topping. I'll make it again!

I halved this recipe and baked it in a 9x9 for my small family, but kept the onion and spice amounts the same, basically doubling them as the other reviewers suggested. I used canned diced tomatoes with garlic, basil, and oregano instead of fresh (it's all I had but it added some good flavor) and added some montreal steak seasoning. My husband loved it, but it was a bit spicy for my 4-year-old. The extra seasoning was definitely a good idea, but next time I won't double the tabasco so my daughter will eat it.

I have to say this wasn't my favorite but my family LOVED it. And they want me to make it again. I think it was a bit boring and it needed a lot my spice. I added canned green beans and I used canned tomatoes.
