Looking for advice/opinions regarding ham. More specifically, a 4 pound boneless, 'water added' kind of ham. I forgot I had it, until today, in my "2nd refrigerator" -which runs at about 28 to 30 degrees on average. The "USE-OR-FREEZE BY" date on it is NOV 24, and at the cost of food these days, I hesitate to throw it away based solely on the date. There doesn't appear to be any discoloration and the vacuum sealed packaging is completely intact (no air or swelling). So my question is, if I open the package and it still smells okay (like ham is supposed to and no spoiled odor), should I cook it anyway? What would you do?
