My maternal grandmother, also from Texas, used to make Teacakes, that were very good, soft cookies that she rolled and cut out. We all tried our hand at watching while she cooked them but she died with the recipe in her head. She put some of this and some of that, never using a measuring cup. They weren't as sweet as a sugar cookie. They weren't a snickerdoodle.
I see all manner of "Teacakes" around, but nothing like Grannie made. Does anyone have a clue?
They would have flour, sugar, flour, I think a little cinnamon, I think a little maybe nutmeg. They were a little off white in color, and normally about 1/4 inch thick.
