Question: (3 answers)

A few issues ago, there was an article about a "cozie" of sorts you put around your dutch oven that makes it into a crock pot essentially. The original purpose was for women in countries with no electricity so they don't have to tend a fire all day. 1)Can anyone remember the name and how to order this and 2) Has anyone had success with this? Plan to take it camping. thanks

Hi, I wanted to make a Bacardi rum cake for this weekend. I have made several times years ago. But the cake mix was always 18.5 oz. Now the cake mixes are 15 oz. So that might change the ingredients that has to be added which probably should be reduced. Can you please give me an answer as soon as possible. I don't want to goof up the recipe. I am concerned about the consistency of the batter and I don't want to ruin it. Thanks

I just scored 14oz of blackberries for ELEVEN CENTS! They must of had a SKU typo. Perhaps this was my reimbursement from December when my cashier rang an item up 3 times, but I only purchased one and I didn't catch it until I got all the way home and unpacked! Have you gotten any good deals on something lately that was unbelievable?!

Question: (1 answer)

I've lived in this apartment for nearly 5 years. 90% of the time I bake something, whether from scratch a box or frozen (bread dough) it mostly falls - just like a lot of us who have older bodies. The oven heats 25 degree's F over what it's set at. I put everything on the middle rack of the oven. There are only 4 places so I put them on rack #2 up from the bottom. This is truly frustrating me.

Can you overcook corned beef? I bought an organic one and simmered it for 4 hours according to the directions. It turned out mushy and tasteless.

I made a cake with white choc. chips in it. They all sank to the bottom of the pan and stuck... making the cake nearly impossible to serve. How can the chips be suspended in the midst of the cake and not the bottom?

Question: (3 answers)

If a banana is over ripe, does it sour? I had some black bananas that I put in a ziploc bag in the freezer, peel on. I didn't recall them smelling bad when I froze them, just smelled like a super ripe banana. Today I pulled one out dumped it into my brownie mix, baked it, I just cut into it and am a little hesitant to eat it. The brownie smell is off, maybe sour smelling .... So, I'm wondering, how should a ripened banana smell and how do you know when it's too ripe? Can the outside peel smell ok, but the inside actually be bad?

Question: (3 answers)

I am a low carb/pre-diabetic Italian who misses pasta and bread goods! I have found pre made "Impastables" pasta at $8.99 plus s/h and a thinslimfoods bread that is decent but 7.99 a loaf +S/H. SO I found a low carb all purpose flour, but not sure how it will behave and wanted to ask an expert. Here is the ingredients list: [vegetable fibers, wheat protein, wheat gluten, unbleached hard wheat flour, whey protein, low glycemic monosaccharide, baking powder (calcium acid phosphate, biocarbonate of soda), lectin, yeast flakes, all natural monk fruit] So after all of that... what do I do to make pasta, bread or baked donuts? I NEED HELP!!!! I promise I will share the answers! THANK YOU SO MUCH!
