Question: (1 answer)

Artichokes - I want to make a Spinach Pasta dish and add artichokes. I've never used or purchased artichokes. I did have a Spinach Artichoke Dip once that was very good. We typically stay away from canned items and only use them occasionally. If I were to buy fresh or frozen what would I need to do before putting them into the pasta dish? More inside about the recipe I'll use.

Question: (1 answer)

Growing up my parents used an old food grinder to make what they called "ham salad" except it was ham-less. It was a meat spread with hot dogs, bologna, pickles, eggs, onion, mustard, mayo, celery seed, and maybe what used to be spiced lunch meat. I'm sure I'm forgetting something. Did anyone else ever have this or know the recipe?

Why do jars for mango chutney need to be sterilized? Could chutney be stored in plastic containers and if so, would they need to be sterilized too? This part of the recipe puts me off and I end up not making it.

Question: (1 answer)

Thanks to everyone who recommended a Kitchen Aid Hand Mixer. So I googled and there were ones for $99 or $39....Any recommendations? I do have a Kitchen Aid Mixer but don't use for cookies. Thinking maybe I should?? I am not a big baker, but do make really good chocolate chip cookies. Lately, they have thinned out when cooking and I think the margarine is over mixed with my current mixer, because the 1st speed is so fast.

Question: (1 answer)

Does anyone have any experience freezing these items? Want to make them in advance for my wedding, but only if they will thaw and taste as good as fresh. Tips appreciated! I'm looking at coconut macaroons, madeleines, bundt cakes, and mini pie crusts that I would fill the day of. Thank you!

Any recommendations for a hand mixer? I am not happy with mine. The first speed is so fast. I think it makes a difference in how my cookies are coming out. Thanks!

Question: (5 answers)

My elderly mother is in the hospital and hates the food. She says it smells and tastes like plastic. I've been taking her meals but am rapidly running out of ideas. She loves veggies and fish, not much meat. Suggestions please? Something than can be broken down into single serving containers and reheated at the hospital.
