Many recipes call for shallots. I have found that I do not like the taste of them. What can I use instead? Will onions do just as well?

A cousin tagged me in a 4 ingredient "ice cream" on FB. It calls for 2 frozen bananas, 1/2 c frozen strawberries, 2 tbsp milk, 1/2 tsp vanilla-- then freeze --- I wanted to make it, but carry it on a 3 hour car ride and leave it for my cousins next week. (We're staying at their beach house.) Can I make it with un-frozen fruit then freeze ?? I'll transport in cooler -- just not understanding why the recipe wants pre-frozen. I'm thinking for my cheaply made $10 blender not frozen would just be better.

HELP, I make a tomato soup that is basically 1 cup chicken broth, 1 28 oz. diced tomatoes, onion, 1/4 cup butter, 2 tblspns sugar and 1/8 teaspoon baking soda. I am totally out of baking soda. Do I need that? What does it even do? I doubled the recipe.

Hey everyone~! Enjoying your summer? We've had unually cold and rainy weather, and I think Ohio hit a record for rainfall, which leads me to my question. Looking to get away for a vegas trip. OMG..they have like 1000 hotels. How do you pick? Has anyone here had any experience with certain hotels? I'll leave you with a food question, to make this relevant. LOL~If We go, I imagine we'll be looking at stopping and buying stuff for snacks. ~so I'm looking for finger food recipes. Thank you so much in advance!

Okay, on Friday I'll be grilling some steaks for dinner, and I'm looking for a crock pot dessert recipe I can set going and then forget about until after dinner. I've been looking, but most seem to be like rice pudding, or cinnamon apple something. A few chocolate, but nothing yet that really impressed me. I really don't know what I'm looking for, here, but what crock pot dessert recipes do you love above all others?
