Savory Corn Flatbread

This tasty flatbread- flavored with sun-dried tomato pesto -is about as far from a traditional recipe as you can get. One evening I had the urge to bake something, so I improvised with the ingredients at hand. My family and I have been hooked ever since. As well as tasting great, this recipe is incredibly quick and easy, because it's heated on a stovetop, rather than in the oven.

Hope Janine is doing great! Gracie's post on the poorest rated got me to thinking about this recipe. Also, my husband was telling me that he loves Subway flatbreads. Today I was going to see about making them. I ran across this & forgot that I had made them. Anybody know how to make the flatbreads like Subway?

It sounds like this recipe needs an egg or some other type of liquid other than water....doesn't look or sound appetizing at all... think I will pass. I do love flatbread, perhaps there is another good recipe out in the Internet world somewhere...

Good morning, Scotdog, er, Janine, um, Scotdog ~lol! It looks like this bread is missing some type of fat - oil, butter, shortening.

Did you see the submitter's comments on the recipe? "This is a response to the last review. This is my recipe, and I can see why it didn't turn out so well for you-- the website administrators didn't get it quite right (they edited my recipe slightly). You're absolutely correct-- 2 tablespoons of water is not nearly enough. The trick is to keep adding water until it holds firmly together, but is not overly sticky. Furthermore, 3 or 4 minutes a side is probably too much-- 1-2 minutes per side is more like it, although it depends on how thick you make each one. I hope this helps you enjoy it more, although it's probably a matter of personal taste more than anything else. Happy cooking!"

Similar to a wheat pita, it is bread made of whole wheat flour. I make it for my diabetic husband all the time. Serve these with your favorite fish or vegetable dish.

I've never had Subway flatbread so I'm not help there. But I made this once and we liked it and it did contain oil so maybe that's the trick.

Thank you! He said his blood sugar really spiked after eating the flatbread so I was hoping to change it with ww.

Chapati is an indian flat bread sometimes referred to as Roti...

THis looks a bit like dog food, and probably tastes about the same too...all that flour, cornmeal and only 2 tablespoons of water and NO oil? Look out SubWay, your flatbread is going to be in high demand! LOL

Hi SD! I have been busy and not on the board much. Maybe you could modify the recipe a little. I found this on AR and it has yeast plus the water and oil. Maybe the sun dried tomatoes could be added to this and replace the flour with ww?
