A traditional recipe, but one of the first recipes I had made on the site. I had never liked oatmeal cookies until I made these. They are great warmed in the microwave the next day like 10 seconds or so, with a cup of coffee. The main photo doesn't really show them as is, imho, color or texture.

Dominican Style Oatmeal

After living in the Dominican Republic for many years, I came to appreciate their tasty and easy way of making oatmeal. The texture is more creamy and liquidy, and the flavor is comforting in the morning.

I thought this oatmeal was pretty good, when I made it once. I wasn't sure what you meant by oatmeal recipes? Did you want traditional, different, baked goods only? A girl I used to babysit, liked oatmeal cooked as on the box and then a little milk, sugar and butter on top. Omg, so simple, but good. :-)

Only 1/4 cup of oatmeal in this recipe, but it has some and it is something different.

Oatmeal bread or oatmeal pancakes are a good choice. I made this one and it is good, but you must like bread on the sweet side as it is quite sweet.

I put oatmeal into blender - sift to keep the finest texture then in recipes calling for flour use at least 1/3 of my 'oat flour' some recipes can manage a higher ratio. Using cake mixes - I always add a cup of oat flour with about 1/2 teas. baking soda and about 1/3 baking powder - add nutrition - lowers sugar ratio.

Another 'fast' oatmeal cookie recipe - I use purchased premade cookie dough - then add as much oatmeal as the dough will hold - add an egg to get it to 'stick' better - get the dough cold so cookies will not spread - it is a fast oatmeal cookie - and those eating - love. I also add more stuff too - recently with a sugar cookie base - oatmeal cranberry - then oatmeal coconut (unsweetened - Bob's Red Mill unsweetened is WONDERFUL) chocolate chip with ground nuts. Premade sugar cookie dough makes an easy base to be creative.

I like this pie crust. If you don't have oat flour, you can process oats in a food processor to make a flour.

I double this recipe and make a whole lot. I add whatever dried fruits and nuts I feel like it and sometimes sub the honey for pure maple syrup. I also add in fiber one cereal and leave out the coconut. It is delicious and I eat it with yogurt or on ice cream! =)
