Sometimes I don't know what I'd do with you guys and your help! Toasting coconut, did this before but kind of freaking out cuz put it in 300 degree oven for about 9 minutes, stirring on and off. It is white with some gold in it (not burnt), but feels a little crunchy. It will be going in a crust (1/2 cup butter (that is ONE STICK, right?) & a cup of flour, vanilla, 3 tblspns flour. What should the texture of the toasted coconut be? Thanx

It should be lightly browned and crunchy, that is toasted :) Don't know what recipe you are using, are you supposed to add the toasted coconut as is or do you break it down (make smaller)?

Thanks, I found this on toasted coconut, "One common use for toasted coconut is as a garnish on soups and curries. The garnish adds a crunchy texture and a nutty flavor which some people find quite enjoyable". It is a crust for a cheesecake (caramel)

Yes, one stick is 1/2 c. look at the paper cover on the stick of butter on one side you will see lines, each line or square equals one TBSP, and it should have a line at 1/3 c. and 1/4 c. and at the end it will show 1/2 c. Do you see this on your butter?

Tosted coconut should be a bit crunchy. You want to watch it carefully and stir often since it can burn REALLY fast.
