I drove 15 miles to buy it last time I made this is FORGOT to make the sauce so it went bad and I had to toss it. I do not want to go that far again so was hoping I could use sour cream or something.

Keni Think that evaporated milk will not add a lot of flavor to the party like greek yogurt or sour cream would. Have never heard of Mexican creme so don't know about that one.

I agree, but if will add a creamy thickness, just not the lil bit of tang. Same for crema. Both will help with the creaminess and are thicker than milk products.

This is very much like sour cream yet it is softer and has a little more tang. Use it to garnish anything from pies to soup. Try whipping it with a little bit of sugar for tangy whipped cream!

You can make your own. This is the recipe I saved when I needed it but changed my mind. It does say it is a lot like sour cream.
