I'm so heartbroken. AnnaBelle got out last night right before we got hit by a huge storm. She's petrified of storms and we can't find her. I'd like any info you can give me on what to do to find a pet - - - I'll tell you what I've done so far inside.

I posted on facebook on many pages. My personal page, a (my city) for sale page, the Boston Terrier Rescue of North Texas. I posted on a neighborhood webpage that is for my town. We have put flyers up around our neighborhood and on every door. I've been to the Animal Shelter, and all of the vets in my town. She is microchipped and I called the company and told them to report her as lost. I saw a news report about dog flipping recently so I'll keep an eye out on Craigslist (although it's my understanding you can't sell dogs on CL). Just wondering if I'm missing anything?

There is a website called Pet Amber Alert. If you post there, they will send an email or fax to all of the shelters and vets in your area. http://www.petamberalert.com/

I think you covered everything I would have done. I am so sorry, I know this must be heartbreaking for you and your furbaby! I hope you find her soon!

I would grab a group of neighborhood kids (if you have any and know them well enough). Offer to pay them some money to help you search areas that a dog might run too (parks, woods, fields ...) The more that are looking the better. I'm so sad for you. I would be devastated. Keep good thoughts.

I agree with campergramma, put signs at any major roads that are near you.

SD, my Rosie escaped one year on her birthday, July 2. . .I walked the neighborhood every day and the surrounding neighborhoods calling her. It was stinking hot everyday. July 4th, still no Rosie and she is terrified of fireworks and storms. I finally found her on one of my walks, 5 days later. She was skinnier and thirsty and scared, but OK. I hope you find your AnnaBelle.

I hate to say this but be careful with Craigslist, posting a lost dog may help you find her, but it also may send a message to the crooks that she is missing. That said constantly check it, do a search for her breed, and don't just look in pet section.

It sounds like you've done all I could think of. Good luck! I just know she'll turn up.

Oh my. It wasn't obvious above, but if you haven't actually put ads in the local papers for those that don't get out much, I would definitely do that too. I check the lost pet ads every weekend.

Hi SD, I really don't have anymore to offer than what has already been said but I just want you to know that you will find her, someone I know lost their dog in a thunderstorm for 2 days she got scared and ran away, but dogs always know their homes and families so I feel very confident that she will make her way home, but hang in there in the meanwhile, she knows where she is loved!!

Call the non emergency # of your local police department and see if the officers can keep an eye out for her. Also call the local shelters everyday, someone may have taken her there. Oh my heart just aches for you. I pray she is found soon. Please keep us informed.

SD, I am so sorry, my little elderly dog got out and I had all the neighborhood kids on there bikes helping me look for him. The kids didn't find gizmo but thanks to there yelling his name all over the neighborhood that when a neighbor 10 blocks away found him he knew fight where to bring him..please let us know I will say a prayer for her safe return. I did have to take Gizmo to the vet because he was elderly, dehydrated and had a bite wound...but was O.K.

We had Boston Terriers in our neighborhood a couple years and those dear little dogs would 'escape' and we would bring them back home. I think everybody in the neighborhood (especially the kids) KNOW the dogs and where they live than the people. Do no despair. AnnaBelle is SMART and please let us know when she is returned. Put her photo on all areas of the neighborhood. omg, heartbreaking but she will come HOME. Believe that. Walk around the neighborhood and keep calling for her.

Oh I'm so sorry! I hope you find her very soon :( I don't know how your town works, but when people lose or find dogs here they call the sheriff's office. Thinking of you!

CB, I live on a corner and it seems all lost doggies find their way to my house. The first thing I do is call our police department. They are great at letting the officers know that a dog has been found at such address. I've had many successful reunions with dogs and owners this way. I live in a rather large community also. Our police department is a bunch of dog lovers!

Dogs usually make it home, but all of the above advice is true... your dog has probably found some stray company and the neighbourhood kids may spot her and you could get the treats out and drive around the sighting area...posting pictures ad a reward offer is a great idea. You've got our prayers that this works out for you soon.

Maybe post an ad in the local paper if you have one. We have a lost pet column in ours. Maybe someone took her in. My lab tends to wander the next street over through the backyard. Neighbor will call, I tell them to turn him loose and he will come home. They hold him so he can't go when hubby calls him LOL. And he loves everyone so is content to hang out.

Hi SD! I'm so sorry AnnaBelle is on the loose & I understand how upset you are. DS had a furbaby hide for 2 days before he showed himself again. My thoughts are that she isn't far away but still hiding. Leave small bowls of food out in places for her. Keep calling for her. Please let us know when she comes home.

So sorry. She may be scared &'will come home soon. Seems like you have all the bases covered. Hope AnnaBelle shows up at your door soon. We have been talking about having chips put in our 2 dogs. 1 especially likes to bolt out the door when she gets a chance & scares us so much. Will say a prayer that she returns soon.

SD, I emailed my brother (who lives on the same street as your in-laws, at 4301, in the grey house) and I asked him to keep an eye out for her. If he finds her, he'll take her across the street. Sending prayers and hugs!

SD, I emailed my brother and sent him a photo of Anna Belle. He lives on the same street as your in-laws(?), in the gray house at 4301. If he sees her during his daily walks, he'll take her to your in-laws' home. Sending prayers and hugs!
