Traditional Gyro Meat

Submitted by: The Dread Pirate Paramour
This Greek/Lebanese style meat loaf is sliced and served with pita bread, tzatziki, and tomatoes for a delicious gyro that is the closest I've come to emulating my favorite Mediterranean restaurant. The preparation time seems long, but most of it is resting time, so you can be doing other stuff!

Chicken and Rice with Meat

An everyday dish of Middle Eastern origin, simple to make, with a slightly exotic flavor. It isn't fancy, but my family loves it. My husband's father used to make it.

Detroit-Style Coney Dogs

Fire up the grill and put together baseball-style hot dogs inspired by the classic Detroit Coney. Topped by onions, warmed chile sauce, and mustard, every meaty bite will take you out to the ballgame.

We had these with homemade coney sauce. (Mine was a veggie dog, since I don't eat hotdogs.)

It has been a while since I had a hot dog. Sounds good.

We had hot dogs too. One Chicago style dog and one that I tried for the first time. It had chopped avacado, fresh salsa, and lime juice, with mustard & mayo spread on the bun. Yum!!

Try it with all your favorite raw vegetables. Tzatziki sauce is also a great way to cool the mouth after a bite of spicy food.

Also made tzatziki. My recipe is similar to this but has a grated cucumber in it and one clove garlic.

I also made a cucumber salad on the side. It was a good break from the same old stuff.

A great way to use all those cucumbers you get from your plants! A little zing from the jalapeno and a burst of lime add a fresh taste to cucumbers in this refreshing fresh salsa.

I love bacon cheese burgers. Do you know what a Jucy lucy is? I have tried to make and just can't. The cheese always leaks out. My son always requests one. Yesterday I made him a cheese burger. When he asked if it was a jucy lucy, I told him it was an inside out jucy lucy. He accepted that as an answer and ate it all. I was so happy because he is so particular.
