I had a tres leche cake and it was very disappointing. Does anyone have a good recipe that they have tried? TIA

Go to bettycrocker.com. You will find their version. I've not been disappointed with this site. I've made cookies, cakes, icings, beer can chicken and all have been great.

What did you not like about the cake? I personally don't like them but the chocolate tres leches on this site topped with vanilla mousse is really good. Regular tres leches white cake is to dense for me. I like light and airy cakes.

All the tres leches cakes I've ever tried are soggy - that's why I don't like them. Someone bought one for my birthday last year, and my heart sank - but I tried it, and it wasn't soggy! It was the only one I've tasted that I liked! [And I was SO glad, since my friend bought it for me!]

I did not like the cake I had because I thought it was too dense. I will try some of the other cake recipes.

They almost have the texture of cornbread to me except the chocolate version. Not my cup of tea. I do have one friend that orders them from me quit often. I do one layer white tres leches and one chocolate with a vanilla mousse filling. I hate making tres leches cakes but that's all they like.

Pour a triple-milky chocolate sauce over and into a warm cake, chill, then top with chocolate curls or your favorite fruit for an easy variation on a classic dessert.

This is the recipe I use. I like to add a drop of coconut extract to the milks and top with a vanilla mousse rosette.

A sponge cake is soaked in a mixture of three kinds of milk and topped with whipped cream and optional strawberries.

I made this one, and I really liked it! It was the first time I had ever had a tres leche cake before, but we had our next door neighbors over for dinner the night I served it (they are Mexican), and they really like it too.
