What is your all time favorite dish to bring to a barbecue? Dessert, dips, sides, anything!! I am going to a birthday barbecue on Saturday, I am looking for new things to bring. There will be the usual meat, beans, rice, pasta salad and potato salads. I am making the recipe below, anthing goes pretty much. HERDEZ® Creamy Tomatillo Avocado Salsa

Submitted by: Valerie's Kitchen
In a twist on traditional tomatillo salsa, this version uses Greek yogurt and avocado to add creaminess and texture. Serve with tortilla chips as an appetizer or as a condiment for grilled fish tacos.

There is another Herdez Recipe although it is not published. Very good though, at least in my opinion.

This delicious salsa made with fresh kiwis, apples and berries is a sweet, succulent treat when served on homemade cinnamon tortilla chips. Enjoy it as a summer appetizer or an easy dessert.

I buy Cinnamon pita chips for this, and use less brown sugar and fruit spread.

Something cool and refreshing to offset all the BBQ. A bowl of Triple Citrus Ceviche placed in a bed of ice. http://allrecipes.com/personalrecipe/63266180/triple-citrus-ceviche/detail.aspx

Fruit Pizza I

Delicious fruit pizza is an attractive dessert perfect for a cookout or children's birthday party. The crust is made from cookie dough pressed into a pizza pan. After the crust is baked and cooled, it's frosted with sweetened cream cheese and decorated with slices of fresh fruit. Chill well before serving.

I'm taking it that the featured meat will be pork, chicken, fish or similar. A Canadian "Kicked up beans" would go well. Pretty simple. Six slices bacon, cut to one inch lengths, and fried until tender only. Leave undrained and add one medium large yellow onion, finely chopped, and sauté until tender, but not brown. Add two cans of baked beans (those with kidney beans are even better) and stew slowly. Add one stalk celery, finely coined, one (or two, to taste) Jalopeno peppers, destemmed and deseeded and finely chopped, a large sweet pepper, finely chopped a quarter cup of your favourite BBQ sauce, about the same of mustard and maple syrup (you can sub in brown sugar) and at the last moments, add in either drained crushed pineapple OR an 8 oz jar of apple sauce. Put it in a thermos to be served arm to hot. Yes, yes, it sounds dumb, but every once in a while we "canuckleheads" come up with a decent recipe...this even tastes good cold...

Oh the oreo truffles, I have made these before. The only problem is not eating all of them before I bring them to the barbecue lol = )

Chairlifter that sounds wonderful!! I love beans! My sis in law usually makes the beans, but she never does beans like that she always makes Mexican beans or borracho beans. It would be nice to have something different for once!! I believe they are making brisket for sure, along with chicken and hot dogs.
