Saw a recipe today, on the email, for peach cobbler. Can I make that with apples instead? I'm from the South but do not like peaches (I know...it's almost un-South like). If I can use apples, which kinds bake the best?

I find it cobbler is very interchangeable. Like this one started as peach and I also use pears. http://allrecipes.com/personalrecipe/62559086/pear-or-peach-cobbler/detail.aspx Happy 4Th.

Yes, you could use apples. Any kind will work, it depends on which kinds you like. Probably those with red skins would be preferable to those with yellow or green skins, but like I say, it depends on your preferences!

I mentioned red skin apples because they tend to be sweet, not tart or very crisp.

Hi, I am so sorry you don't like peaches. Apples make a great cobbler. Most recipes for apple desserts call for Granny Smith. They are crisp, tart and hold their shape. Certain kinds of red apples, like MacIntosh and Red Delicious would turn to mush. BTW, don't forget to use fresh grated nutmeg and some allspice in your apple filling. Cheers!
