OT...well today is my sons end of the year testing and I know he will be very stressed because he is a perfectionist. He is already ahead by 2 years so I keep telling him he has nothing to worry about and I don't push. Either way my child seems to think he should know everything and be able to do everything just perfect the first time. Ideas to get him to relax a little bit today would be great! Thanks to you.

It's great that your son is so successful, but I wonder why he's so driven to be perfect at everything. We can't always be winners. Anyway, here's a relaxation technique. Have him lay down and put a cool, wet cloth on his forehead. Have him take a deep breath and hold it for a count of ten, then exhale for a count of 10. Count slowly. Repeat several times. This also works if you're having a problem falling asleep.

Catus Rose I tell you he was born that way. I'm always telling him we are not perfect and everyone has to learn nto just him. My mom says I was a bit like that when I was younger. Though I don't remember it. I'm def. not like that now! lol Nor is his dad. His dad seldom follows through with anything. I have been trying to get him to do 2 minute mediations and you would think I told him to do something extreme. But the breathing does help...and I do that already with him. Thank you.

I will try the cool rag....that is a good idea and I can see how that would relax someone.

I believe, too, that he was born that way. I've worked with kids before who got so stressed that it started to affect their health. Whatever you can do to help him relieve his stress will be a blessing. Best wishes to you!
