My freezer died March 25th. A new one was delivered 2 weeks ago but was damaged. Another is supposed to be delivered tomorrow. I sure have missed having it. My frig freezer just isn't enough! How about sending happy thoughts my way tomorrow for a non-damaged, working one?

Freezer Peach Pie Filling

Peach filling is prepared ahead of time and frozen inside a pie plate. When ready to bake, simply place it in a crust-filled pie plate of the same size, and bake.

Baking Nana, you've given me an idea of something to put in my freezer once the peaches come in season. Thanks! (like I need another recipe in my already bulging box :)

Are you getting an upright or a chest type freezer?

I'm short, and I don't like standing on my head to get in a chest freezer :)

Lucky Stars

Every year we host a New Year's Eve Party with a theme. Last year was "Starry, Starry Night". Everything (food, dress and decorations!) related to stars. This cookie was a hit with everyone. Try substituting pecans for the walnuts.

Easy Frozen Margaritas

Submitted by: USA WEEKEND columnist Pam Anderson
Authentic margaritas call for lots of fresh lime juice - both expensive and time-consuming. I've found I can shortcut the process by using frozen limeade. And for a festive non-alcoholic drink, combine a 12-ounce can of limeade (thawed) with a 48-ounce bottle of sparkling water.

I do hope it's all I could wish for since I haven't seen it in person. It's hard to believe hardly anybody carries freezers around here! And if they do, it's all the same one. We ordered it on-line from Lowe's.

Rose Hip Freezer Jam

Submitted by: Cazuela

The rose hips in this jam are uncooked so the jam tastes fresh and sweet; it retains its bright rosy-orange color. The hardest part is seeding the hips which can be sticky, but so worth it! Use wild or cultivated rugosa roses that haven't been sprayed with pesticide; pick them in the fall when they are bright red. I adapted my recipe from one in a Euell Gibbons field guide.

I found most of the food still really cold and almost frozen :) I ended up tossing all the bananas, pumpkin, cinnamon roll dough, and some other stuff I can't remember right now. I gave away honey baked ham...a good bit of it. I made strawberry bread out the wazoo and put it in my mother's freezer. I was able to save a case of chicken breasts, blueberries, and my corn I had put up last summer. I think I would have cried had I lost the chicken and the corn. Too expensive to lose!

Here's the funny and interesting thing: I had my mother's hand-me-down freezer. She has had TWO freezers since that one. Just goes to show they don't make 'em like they used to!

Sounds like you were quite busy saving what you could. After a day or two your freezer will be cold enough to load. Have fun filling it.

My parents bought a chest freezer when one of my brothers was born. He is now 55 and that freezer is still running and full to the brim.

Third one's supposed to be the Charm, Paula! DW is sort of "vertically challenged" too, and insisted on an upright versus a chest freezer, after falling into it, and struggling to get out... (I don't remind her of this very often, but you brought that vision back!...

Oh, chairlifter, I can imagine. While we were shopping one night, my husband asked me why I wasn't even considering a chest freezer. I took him over to them and proceeded to show him why!
