Hi guys! I'm looking for a good appetizer to make this weekend for my dad's birthday. I'm tired of all my usuals. Everyone loves everything so anything goes.

Chocolate Chip Cheese Ball

A sweet switch from the usual cheese ball. Cream cheese and butter are sweetened and blended with miniature chocolate chips, then rolled in chopped pecans.

Just FYI - I serve this at holidays without the nuts, just in a bowl as a spread for graham sticks. My son thinks it wouldn't be Christmas without this :)

Tomato and Mozzarella Bites

A great way to serve tomato mozzarella salad. Great presentation; always a hit! You can find the bite-sized mozzarella ('Bocconcini') at most supermarkets. If they are on the larger side, cut them in half.

This is an easy cream cheese spread to make, and it tastes just like the jalapeno poppers you wish you could make yourself! The hardest part of this recipe is not eating it all by yourself!

One more! Gotta have a dip right? This is fantastic! I bake not micro! I also buy a few fresh jalapeno's dice up and toss in. I garnish the top after it cools down with a few pretty jalapeno slices!

Fondue was my first plan and I still might do that but I don't want my Dad to have to keep getting up from his chair to dip. I just have one fondue pot.

Whisky and Chilli Tiger Prawns Preparation Time: Less than 30 mins Cooking Time: 10 to 30 mins Serves 4 as a starter or 2 as a main Sucking the sweet sauce off the juicy crustaceans is an experience to be savoured, never hurried. Shelled and unshelled prawns are both fine to use. Serve with a green salad and hunks of crusty bread. Ingredients 2 Limes - 1 juice and zest - 1 juice only 100ml/3½fl oz Whisky 180g/6oz soft light Brown Sugar 20 raw Tiger Prawns - peeled and deveined 1 Red Chilli - seeds removed and finely chopped 1 tbsp Vegetable Oil Preparation method Preheat the oven to 200C/400F/Gas 6. Heat the lime juice, whisky and sugar in a saucepan over a medium heat, stirring gently, until the sugar has dissolved. Once the sugar has all dissolved, stop stirring, turn up the heat and boil for 5–7 minutes, or until the mixture becomes syrupy and thickens. To tell if it is ready, dip a wooden spoon in the mixture and tap off the excess - some glaze should still stick to the spoon, but it will not be as thick as honey. Stir in the finely grated lime zest, then remove the pan from the heat and set aside. Put the prawns in a shallow ovenproof dish and sprinkle over the chilli. Brush the prawns with the oil and then with the glaze. Bake in the oven for 10–15 minutes, or until the prawns turn opaque. Remove from the oven and brush with more glaze, reserving any extra glaze for dipping, and set aside to cool slightly before serving.
