I like manella's suggestion! I would add some rice wine vinegar, too. If you don't have cukes, just add some onion and fresh herbs (or dried).

Fav steak side, broiled tomatoes. Cut in half, place on foil (edges folded to hold liquid)place on broiler pan. Add a little salt and pepper and a couple T's of brown sugar on top. Add a 1/4-1/3 cup of water to the foil. Broil till toms are softened and sugar is caramelized but not burnt. Top with a pat of butter before serving. I serve the water sugar juice over top. Even better if you have really garlic-y garlic bread to go with.

I was going to suggest broiled tomatoes too, or you could roast them. Cut them in half, place in a shallow baking dish, sprinkle with your favorite herbs and a drizzle of EVOO a nd roast at 375 for about 15 minutes then sprinkle with grated Parmesan and roast another 10 minutes.

When we have fresh grown Creole tomatoes we just cut them into chunks and add some sliced sweet onion and either use Italian dressing or some balsamic vinegar. A nice fresh tomato salad is the way to go.
