Will probably go with the package of gravy mix. We can not afford to buy chicken stock, heavy cream, white peper and spice to make gravy.

Mushroom sauce can be done with any type of stock, but I used beef stock here since I'm going to be serving with meatloaf.

For both recipes you can used store bought stock in the soup section in the store. I prefer Kitchen Basics brand.

Patti2338,if you have a chicken cube, dissolve it in 2 cups hot water. In a pot melt 3tbsp.butter,or margine, when bubbly add 3tbsp.white flour stir with a wisk, when that comes together, slowly add the hot chicken broth(the cube in hot water). You have to add slow so it does not clump up,keep whisking for a few minutes, should thicken up nicely.Hope this helps.

My friend and I are making pork chops, mashed potatoes and salad for our dates tonight. She knows how to fry pork chops and said her mom used to make gravy with flour after she cooked the pork chops. She remembers how her mom cooked pork chops but not how she made the gravy.

To manella. What is a chicken cube?

She probably just added flour to the pan drippings after the pork chops were done and then added some kind of broth or milk. My parents used milk and we used to love pork chops with milk gravy...it was one of our favorites.

You could also use a can of cream of mushroom soup and add it to the pan drippings after done frying the chops and then add the milk to get it to the thickness you like...season with pepper, but probably won't need salt.

Patti2338, sorry I should have said a chicken or beef Bouillon cube, you can buy it at any grocery store, they are made by Knorr or Oxo. I buy them and keep them on hand to make gravy when I haven't any drippings from whatever meat i'm making. Also good in a pinch when you want to make soup and you have no broth.Good luck with your gravy, and enjoy your evening.
