Chef John's Make-Ahead Turkey Gravy

This make-ahead turkey gravy frees up valuable kitchen time for Thanksgiving, plus it will look and taste even better than those frantic, last-minute versions.

Hi Korilynne I started making this yesterday by roasting the veggies and turkey. I left it to cool on the stove top so I could put it in the fridge to take up the rest of the task this morning. My husband ate the turkey out of the pan! Today it is supposed to simmer on the stove for hours. ha ha ha

I was making it because DH is turkey hunting. Wild turkeys are so lean that there is no gravy. He'll get one today because I don't have the gravy ready ~ hee hee

Good morning, Lightedway. We had a couple of our students take vacation days to go to West Virginia and wild turkey hunt. They were so excited and promised me pictures of all that they get. Lucky me! lol

I hope they get to harvest at least one. What a great learning experience :)

I can just picture my DH next to yours munching on turkey. I have to hide everything anymore, but don't know where I'd hide a whole turkey. Hope you get some during the hunt!

These sandwiches are absolutely AMAZING!! The combination of ingredients with a special sandwich spread helps to create a taste beyond compare. A true delicacy. Garnish with a kosher dill pickle and enjoy!

Elle, hope your day passes quickly for you.

Thanks, Molly! Went a bit crazy on the "tonight", didn't I? Lol. I'm slicing fresh strawberries for dessert. I'm gradually getting them frozen to keep them from going bad. I see fresh strawberry ice cream in our future!

I've never froze strawberries for ice cream - what a great idea. I love homemade ice cream.

Good morning, Korilynne, we're expecting a bright, clear day too . . . finally! :) I'm thinking of trying this recipe, since I have all the necessary ingredients already available, something rare. Unfortunately, I'm not having luck with chicken breast and pork chops lately, both tend to try out and/or get chewy, but I'm willing to try anyway. I suppose it's my childhood memory of grandma and mom drilling it in to our heads to cook until there is no "pink". Hahahah, yeah, I cook it till its dead, hahaha. Anyhow, yes, I'm going to try this tonight with some pasta. Enjoy your day, Foodies :)

I have to make 4 dozen cookies for church tomorrow. I'm going to make What's for dinner, mom? Pizzelle cookies, minus the anise. I think I will roll them and dip the ends in chocolate and sprinkles. ~ ~

That sounds so good! You have more patience than I!

The pizzelle maker mades 2 at a time and they only have to cook 35-45 seconds. I should have 4 dozen in no time! I only have cookies and laundry to do today. How exciting!! LOL
