Can I substitute a different type of steak, (round, chuck, etc.), for skirt steak in a griiling recipe? Thanks!

You can but is going to taste different. More so the texture than flavor.

Try to find a Flat Iron steak. Its from the shoulder and just Fab! ! A bit pricey but worth it!! I would stay away from Chuck steak wise, too tough. jmo :)

Various cuts of beef are suitable for grilling. Are you trying to find a sub for skirt steak or asking about grilling in general?

Pattycakes is right. Flat Iron is the way to go. The others will be tough. They are more for braising.

Thanks to all who responded to my question. I did marinate a sirloin w/ the 'Grilled Skirt Steak w/ Asian Barbeque Marinade', submitted by Chef John from this site, & let me tell you, it was goooood! I recommend it AND I plan on using it again, (w/ a better cut of steak)! Molly
