I'm making this Teriyaki Chicken recipe and putting it in the cockpot instead of baking it. My question is about the sauce. Do I combine it and put it on the stove to thicken like the recipe calls for or just dump the sauce over the chicken in the crockpot? Will it thicken in the crockpot? I'm afraid it might be too thick if I boil it first and then put it in. Thanks for your help guys!

I'd try putting it in the pot along with the chicken. If it's too thin, you can always thicken it up later with a cornstarch or a flour slurry...

If you're going to be home while it's cooking, tho - and can keep an eye on it to make sure it doesn't burn - you could always thin it out if it does get too thick...

That's a good point I can always thicken it up. I won't be home for most of it so I guess I won't cook it before putting it in. Thanks!

Hi Meme. I make this often and we love it. I usually add some minced garlic. Anyway, just as she noted above me, I would watch it, as when I make it in the oven I have to line the pan with aluminum foil because it can get burned on the pan easily. I agree with her and would just put it all in and skip the stove. If needed you can thicken later. Let me know how it comes out, if it works well for you, I may try this next time instead of baking, as it seems like it would be quicker.

I accidently put it on high for 5 hours instead of low but it turned out great. I did have to add another T of cornstarch and water. My mother in law asked for the recipe and everybody had seconds.
