Good Mornin' ~~ have been asked to make this (recipe attached) as an anniversary gift. Realize recipe says to use **key lime juice**, but that is not available in our area. Does key lime juice *really* make that much of a difference, or can I use **regular** lime juice? Thank you for your help.

DQ, if you google "difference between lime and key lime" a lot of hits come up. But maybe someone here will give you their opinion too. Looks like a yummy recipe!

Not an expert, but there IS a difference between regular limes and Key Limes. If they ask you to make it, they might be able to tell the difference?

Call around and ask the stores if they carry them, they are in the produce dept. sometimes they have just the juice in a bottle.

I have read that a half and half ratio of fresh lime and lemon juice is the closest sub if you can't find it but I haven't tried it. I can't imagine zesting a key lime without shaving off part of my finger :)

The small amount of juice and zest you need for this recipe won't make difference, if you can only get regular limes where you live use them it will be fine.

Sue is right, that is a very small amount, just use regular limes.

I find the bottled juice is fine for such recipes. Whatever types of fresh limes your store carries are usually so tiny, they are virtaully impossible to squeeze.
