The lentil soup recipe I am using calls for white wine--can I substitute rice wine vinegar ?

Hi, unless a lot of wine, I would sub chicken stock. You'll never tell the difference. cheers.

No way! As Don suggested, I'd go with the chicken stock instead.

Omit the wine or sub with chicken stock as Don suggested. I would also add a bit of lemon or a splash of the vinegar as both will give you the acid that brightens the taste of lentils. It will need it without the wine.
