Ok, I know we are all thinking Easter, but I have a bag of fresh D'Anjou pears that neef to be used. We like oven baking them with cinnamon n honey, but I need to use more than just two pears

Fresh Pear Cake

This is the recipe that I like to use with the fresh pears that I get from my trees in late August. It's also lower in fat and cholesterol than most regular cakes.

Hi Aunt Star, I have not made this particular cake but it's very similar to a recipe I use, but instead of pears, it's apples.

Fresh Pear Pie

Slices of fresh pear are layered into a pastry shell, sprinkled with sugar, splashed with lemon juice and dotted with butter. The oven does the rest. Serve this lovely pie with scoops of ice cream or whipped cream.

This is very good. I use ginger instead of cinnamon.

I like this pie, too. This is the recipe that brought me to AR years ago.

This moist coffee cake goes great with a cup of coffee at breakfast but also makes a delicious snack or dessert. When I bring it to work, it disappears in minutes. --Darlene Spalding, Lynden, Washington

Apple, Cranberry, and Pear Crisp

Submitted by: Barb Y
A splendid concoction of cubed apples and pears, dried cranberries, a bit of flour, honey, and lemon juice is spooned into a baking pan, and then covered with a crumbly butter and nut mixture. Forty-five minutes later, the crisp is brown and beautiful.

What about taking either, and baking with a dry white wine and chocolate sauce? You could always add cinnamon, I confess I hadn't thought of that.

Just made this vinaigrette last night. The recipe won't use of a lot of your pears, but after making other things if you still have one left that you need to do something with, this is a nice recipe to try.

Bosc Pears make their own light syrup right on the stove top. Add a touch of vanilla and orange liqueur, and you have an autumn dessert that won't weigh you down.

I haven't tried this yet but it sounds so god! It does call for Bosc, tho.
