Morning! Can I sub rice (have wild & Italian) for barley in beef soup? Equal amounts? Add later than the barley would've been? Any other tips, this'll be my 1st... Thank you

I frequently sub barley for rice-I'm sure it would work in reverse, too. The timing would depend on the type of rice used, but if you leave enough time for the cooking time on the package directions, it should be fine.

HI I cook my rice or barley in a separate pot,add your own in your bowl when it's cooked.I do it this way because if there is soup left over the rice or barley sucks it up and it swells to much.Hope this helps.

Wild would be my choice, more earthy taste similar to barley. I'd do like manella suggested, cook separate. I'd use beef broth to cook the rice as well.
